Programme Overview

The Strong Start for Academic Success series aims to offer students a substantial head start and prepare them for subject mastery.

The English programme aims to give students an introduction to TLL’s in-house methods for the various components in the English paper and equip students with exam-savvy strategies and techniques, while the Maths programme prepares students for new topics and challenges, allowing them to build a strong foundation so they can tackle upcoming challenges with ease and assurance. Last but not least, the Science programme aims to give students an introduction to various topics for the upcoming year and support revision of past-year topics.

Your child should be enrolled in this academic level in 2027.

Is this programme targeted at mainstream or GEP students?

Both mainstream and GEP students can join the programme, as the materials covered focus on PSLE topics and components.

However, please note that at the P5 level, GEP students take the GEP examination, which is slightly different from the mainstream examination. If P5 GEP students would like some practice for the PSLE, they can sign up for this programme.

Will there be any homework?

There will be no homework. Students will be given time to try most questions as part of classwork. For the remaining questions, students can try them at home and check their answers against the answer keys provided (refer to Q3).

Will the worksheets be marked?

For English, work such as compositions will be collected by the teacher for marking.

For other English components, Maths and Science, our teachers will go through the answers in class. Students are not required to hand in their worksheets for marking. Due to the intensive nature of the programme, our teachers will focus more on the teaching content, question analysis and answering methods and techniques. Hence, answer keys are provided to ensure that students have model answers to check against after the programme ends. This is unlike our regular programme, where we do not typically provide solutions.

If I can only make it for 1 day out of the 2 days, can I still attend the session? Is the content covered related?

You can still attend the session, as different topics are covered over the 2 days. Students do not need knowledge from the first day to attend the second day.

My child has already attended the Primary 5 Intensive Revision programmes. Is this any different?

Yes. While the components covered may be similar, the passages and questions are different. By attending the Primary 6 Strong Start for Academic Success programme, your child will be exposed to a wider variety of questions and have the opportunity to practise more.

My child already attends the Primary 5 regular programmes. How will this be useful?

The Primary 6 Strong Start for Academic Success programmes focus on the sections which are key to helping your child score in the exam. Your child can use this opportunity to consolidate their learning or to revise areas they feel unfamiliar with. These programmes also serve to give students a head start in Primary 6.
