Programme Overview

The Building Maths Foundation series is designed to provide students with the confidence and skills to master the fundamentals before progressing to more complex problems.

This programme is only for students who are currently not enrolled in our TLL Mathematics programme.

Programme Focus

Our Building Maths Foundation programme strengthens the essential concepts and skills covered in Primary 5. With intentional scaffolding and carefully-designed practices, students reinforce fundamental concepts, address common learning gaps and build the mastery and confidence required to tackle Primary 5 problems with confidence.

Course Outline

As your child prepares for Primary 5, the Primary 5 Building Maths Foundation 1 programme helps to strengthen your child's readiness by revisiting fundamental concepts covered in the first half of the year. With intentional scaffolding, each lesson is supported by guided practice that builds accuracy, confidence and problem-solving skills.

About P5 Building Maths Foundation 1

Is this programme for TLL or non-TLL students?

This programme is open to non-TLL students, as well as TLL students who are not enrolled in our core Mathematics programme.

Students who are currently enrolled in our core Mathematics programme will not be able to attend this programme, as the materials covered will overlap with the core curriculum (please refer to Question 2).

Are the worksheets similar to those covered in the core programme?

Yes, the worksheets covered in this programme are similar to those used in our core Mathematics programme.

Is this programme suitable for students who struggle with basic concepts?

Yes. This programme is specifically designed to bridge learning gaps through intentional scaffolding. Students will receive structured support to strengthen their foundational understanding, and will be guided through question analysis as well as effective answering techniques.

Will there be any homework?

There will be no homework for this programme. Students will be given time during lessons to attempt most questions as part of classwork.

Will the worksheets be marked?

Worksheets will be collected for marking at the end of each lesson. Answer keys will also be provided after marking to ensure that students have a model answer to check against.

If I am unable to attend some sessions of the programme, can I still sign up?

Yes. Students may arrange for replacement classes within the six-week period. Alternatively, worksheets and answer keys will be provided.
