P3 High Ability Learners Workshop 2
Programme Overview
Programme Focus
This programme focuses on developing critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and advanced language and mathematical abilities. Through targeted exercises, exposure to common question types in the selection test, and step-by-step guidance, students will develop a deeper understanding of complex concepts and learn how to tackle challenging problems with confidence.
Course Outline
English:
Primary 3 students will hone their reading comprehension skills by analysing challenging passages and learning how to make inferences to answer higher-level comprehension questions. Cloze passages are designed to help students develop critical reading skills, expand their vocabulary, and master answering techniques for contextual questions and commonly tested collocations.
Students will also gain exposure to vocabulary questions that assess subtle differences in meaning and usage, while engaging in word puzzles that enhance logical reasoning skills in an enjoyable and interactive way.
Mathematics:
Primary 3 students will be exposed to a range of non-routine problems involving familiar concepts such as arithmetic, patterns, and measurement. These critical thinking problems are designed to strengthen higher-order logical thinking and reasoning skills.
The programme also challenges students to reach their full potential by tackling topics that require strong visualisation skills, particularly when interpreting diagrams. Students will be taught how to analyse complex questions and apply creative problem-solving strategies to work efficiently and accurately.
