Programme Overview

For Ages 10 to 12

The Advanced Computer Scientists programme develops students’ programming skills at an advanced level. Students will explore app creation for both iOS and Android, develop their maker skills through our micro:bit curriculum, and apply advanced concepts in syntax-based programming to create real-world products.

Course Outline

In this programme, students will use Python programming concepts such as string methods, Boolean flags and the random module to create a word-based role-playing game (RPG).

Students will explore game design by examining different outcomes and the logic behind building a game. This involves using planning tools to explore different scenarios and applying if–else logic. Students will then develop their own versions of RPG games, such as a “Pets” RPG where they can play as their favourite animals.

By the end of the programme, students will create a dynamic RPG game with customisable features such as character classes, unique attributes and battle mechanics.
